Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra became the second Indian to win an individual gold medal in the Olympics. On Saturday, Neeraj, a 23-year-old farmer’s son from Khandra village near Panipat in Haryana won gold for the country, in the javelin throw. He created history at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Chopra won the country’s seventh medal and the first gold at the Summer Games. Celebrities Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Kangana Ranaut and others now congratulate the champ on Instagram.

Taking to her Instagram stories, Deepika Padukone shared a clipart of Neeraj Chopra with a javelin in his hand. She wrote, “Congratulations to Neeraj Chopra,” and tagged the athlete. Kareena shared a picture of Neeraj holding the tricolour and wrote, “Congratulations,” and tagged Chopra in the post. She then added the hashtags ‘Tokyo 2020’, ‘Cheer4India’, ‘Javelin Throw’, and ‘Gold’.

Ranveer Singh wrote, “Bharat Mata ki Jai,” in Hindi and called Neeraj Chopra’s win “historic”. The actor shared a picture of Neeraj from the Olympics and tagged the athlete. Kangana Ranaut, on the other shared an old picture of Chopra sporting a long hair look. She wrote in Hindi, “Kya bolu Neeraj, Nishabh hun main, dhanya hai tumhare maata pita aur desh” The actress expressed she is speechless after Neeraj’s victory. Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan was constantly watching Neeraj Chopra’s game at the Olympics. As the champ won gold, the Coolie No 1 actor posted a video of him, expressing his excitement.

Neeraj Chopra won gold, defeating Jakub Vladejch of Czech Republic, who won silver. The 23-year-old produced the second throw of 87.58m in the finals. Chopra will be taking the flag for India at the Tokyo Olympics closing ceremony.
